In 2021, we expanded our team to grow Cakes By Paula into what it is today. My mom, Millie, helps with many aspects of the business—from shopping and baking to cleaning and more. My brother, Paul, ensures your cake is delivered safely to venues across the area. It truly takes a team to make your day special—and we’re honored to be part of it.
Little Ladybug
Mary, pictured to the left, is the inspiration behind the ladybug you’ll find on all of my cake designs.
For her 7th birthday, Mary dreamed up a cake with seven tiers — each one representing a year of her life and her favorite things. Cakes By Paula was honored to bring her vision to life.
You see, Mary wasn’t expected to make it to her 8th birthday due to neuroblastoma cancer. She fought bravely, and though she did celebrate her 8th birthday, she passed shortly after. Her parents — my dear friends, Kristina and Scott — lovingly called her their little ladybug.
Since the heartbreaking day I learned of Mary’s passing, I’ve placed a small ladybug on every cake I make — in honor of her smile, her kindness, her spunk, and her short but beautiful life.
Over time, many more friends and loved ones have been taken from us far too soon. So now, as I place that ladybug on each cake, I silently ask the angels above to protect everyone traveling to and from their celebrations — and to help us never forget those we’ve lost.

A Cake From the Heart
Icing Smiles provides celebration cakes to critically ill children. The dedication and passion of Icing Smiles was important to me and I knew I would be passionate about their mission. I am a past state representative for Icing Smiles and have donated many cakes. Bakers from around the country provide happy moments to these families during such a difficult time.
